Lloyd Donny Harvey, 74, of Cary, N.C. passed away Sunday at Transitions Life Care Hospice Home in Raleigh, N.C., with his family at his side.

He was born on Feb. 2, 1944, in Sarver, and was a son of the late Theodore and Bernice Harvey.

Lloyd was a U.S. Army veteran and had received numerous medals and commendations. He retired from the Army National Guard. Lloyd was the first Chaplain's assistant for the North Carolina State National Guard.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 47 years, Elizabeth S. Harvey of the home; two sons, Donny Harvey and his wife, Amy, of Taylors, S.C., and Daniel Harvey and his fiancée, Kirstie Linza, of Raleigh, N.C.; three brothers, Theodore Harvey of Saxonburg, Willard Harvey of Chicora, and Blair Harvey of Cabot; one sister, Arlene Clippard of Hickory, N.C.; three grandchildren, Corey, Amber and Reilly; three great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
