Altogether, the work provided to Sylvia's household and John's household totaled around $110,000 of market valued charitable construction, provided at no cost to the homeowners.

Members of Presbyterian churches in Meridian and Grove City were among the 33 volunteers returning March 2 from a relief trip to Texas.

Hosanna Industries of Rochester, Beaver County, worked with 20 volunteers from Meridian Presbyterian Church, Plain Grove Presbyterian Church near Slippery Rock and two other churches in the Rivers of Life Presbytery, to complete comprehensive home repairs for two impoverished households, both of which have not had power since Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast in August.

The group worked in Rockport County, Texas, and stayed at the First Presbyterian Church of Corpus Christi from Feb. 25 to March 2.

Pastor Stephen Franklin of Meridian Presbyterian Church said, “I was one of the organizers and money raisers.

“My best friend is a pastor in Corpus Christi. He said. 'I've got the dorms and there is a lot of damage north of here.'”

Franklin said Hosanna provided the skilled workers needed for the home repairs.

“We have been big supporters of Hosanna Industries. Members of our church went to West Virginia with them,” said Franklin.

“We were working in Aransas Pass, about 20 minutes from Corpus Christi,” said Amanda M. Becker, a mission worker for Hosanna Industries.

The group worked on two homes damaged in the Aug. 25 through 29 catastrophic flood disaster brought on by Hurricane Harvey, a category 4 hurricane.
