Thomas E. Myers

Thomas E. Myers

Thomas E. Myers, 66, of Parker passed peacefully Tuesday morning with his wife Nancy by his side following a brief illness.

He was born Nov. 16, 1951, and was the son of the late Robert J. (Cutie) and Flored (Flo) Marshall Myers.

Tom graduated from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in 1969 and immediately joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He distinguished himself serving in Vietnam, earning the Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals and proficiency in use of 106 mm recoilless rifle.

On return from the Marine Corps, Tom was employed in the glass manufacturing industry in Parker, Butler and Clarion. He finished his working career at Hickman Lumber Co. of Emlenton before becoming disabled in 2007.

Tom loved the Marine Corps, Pirates baseball and Steelers football. His biggest joy, however, was watching his grandchildren grow and learn.

As a very active and dedicated member of VFW Post 7073 of Parker, Tom was a life member of the VFW, past commander and served many years as Quartermaster of the post, a position he held until his death. Tom assisted in conducting veteran funeral services for many years, where he was most often serving as firing officer of the rifle squad.

He was a charter member of Parker Polar Bear Club, which raises funds for local charities.

He attended the former St. Mary, Our Lady of the Snows, Catholic Church of Parker, and later attended St. Michael the Archangel Church in Emlenton.

Mr. Myers was married to the former Nancy Mulroy McBrien and enjoyed 30 years as a couple. They enjoyed fishing, boating, motorcycling and camping together and their time in Florida over the past several winters.

Along with his wife, he is survived by three children, Adrienne (Jason) Brosnahan of Emlenton, Casey (Michael Adams) McBrien of Parker and Aaron (Amber) Myers of Fenelton; as well as his grandchildren, Logan Lei Myers and Alivia Quinn. He also leaves behind his sister, Linda Lieberum of Knox.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Myers.
