Irene K. Jones

Irene K. Jones, 82, of Petrolia passed away Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Born in Callery on April 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Joseph Spurk and Anna Laurie Wiley Spurk.

Irene began her career in nursing and care facilities, serving for over 38 years at Butler Memorial Hospital and for 20 years at the Chicora Medical Center. She had the privilege of helping to care for her father, Lawrence, during the last five years of his life, and a very good neighbor, Granny Foltz, of Callery. Her father was also a joy to others and an inspiration to other patients.

Irene enjoyed life, caring for the elderly and she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, Kiersten and Nathan, every Friday when they were babies.

Irene leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Richard Paul Jones and his wife, Maureen, and John Paul Jones and his wife, Tammy; a daughter, Susan Davidson and her husband, Barry; her grandchildren, Jamie (Robert), Crystal (Chris), Kendall (Mike), William, Clayton and Shawn (Robbie); her great-grandchildren, Victoria, Dakota, Amber, Hunter, Kiersten, Nathan, Lily and Benjamin; her great-great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Grace Allen, daughter of Kiersten and Laz; her sister, Anna Kemery; her dear friend, Joe Dodd; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Ann Jones Spithaler; her ex-husband, Paul D. Jones Jr; and her five brothers.

JONES — Friends of Irene K. Jones, who died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. Thursday at Boylan Funeral Home, 116 E. Main St., Evans City, with the Rev.
