MEADVILLE — The final play wasn't how it was drawn up.

Then again, that's how the Slippery Rock High girls basketball season has gone.

Nothing has happened as others thought it would.

They weren't even supposed to be in the District 10 5A championship game. They weren't even supposed to be in position to win the program's first district crown since 2009-10.

But here the young Rockets were, in a tie game Saturday afternoon against Harbor Creek at Meadville High School with 5.8 seconds left.

They had a play in mind.

It was quickly discarded.

Instead senior Macy McCall — the only player on the Slippery Rock roster who stepped foot on the Meadville basketball court in last year's heartbreaking loss in the championship game — dribbled in a loop around the arc and drove in for a lay-up as time expired to give the Rockets a 47-45 win over Harbor Creek.
