Man commands his dog to bite police
BUTLER TWP — A township man is accused of commanding his dog to bite two police officers and threatening to shoot a boy in the head following a series of calls Sunday to his home, authorities said.
No one was hurt but Butler Township police arrested 25-year-old Kenneth A. Kaiser on felony assault and other charges.
He is free on $50,000 bail.
Police said they were initially called to Weir Avenue shortly before 2 a.m., for a report of two men doing “burnouts” up and down the street.
Officers saw Kaiser standing outside his home with a pickup truck in the driveway. He was with another man.
Both men, who appeared to be intoxicated, denied burning rubber while intentionally spinning vehicle tires, police said.
Kaiser “threatened to turn his dog loose on the officers,” according to court documents, “saying the dog would rip the officers apart.”
Police told the men to go inside the home for the night or risk getting cited. The officers left.
But just a few minutes later they were called back to Weir Avenue for a report of a man yelling outside. The man, it turned out, was Kaiser, according to police.
Police allege he threatened to shoot the caller, a 16-year-old boy, in the head and to turn his dog loose on the teen.
Kaiser again threatened to set his dog — a 95-pound shepherd/Labrador retriever mix — on the officers, who advised him he would be getting a citation for disorderly conduct.
Before police left documents said, Kaiser “indicated he was carrying a gun.”
At 2:51 a.m., police got a third call about Kaiser. Again, police said, he was reportedly outside screaming. And later, again, he threatened to let his dog loose on police.
This time police arrested him.
