Barbara J. Checkan
Barbara J. Checkan, 70, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Evans City, passed away Jan. 14 unexpectedly in her home.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Donald C. Checkan; and her father and mother, Earl Ardelle and Betty Lou Selle.
Barbara was the loving mother of four sons, Donnie (Bonnie), Richard (Bonnie), Jeffrey (Carey) and Joseph (Darlene); 12 awesome grandkids, Shane (Amy), Corey (Staci), Colin, Kaitlyn, Wyatt, Marissa, Preston, Nadia, Nicholas, Tyler, Conner and Keith; four beautiful great-grandchildren, Rylee, Grayson, Kyler and Maddox; her two beautiful and loving sisters, Patti Scott and Debbie (Al) Carothers; her sister-in-law, Joyce (Ronnie) Powers; and her nieces and nephews, Patrick (Leslie) Powers, Rhonda (Randy) Landgraff, Tina (Ed) Davey, Tammy (Kevin) Nulph and Heidi (Micah) Brown.
Barb really loved her retirement in Florida and waking up every day enjoying a cup of coffee, watching the beautiful sunrise, having family visit and just relaxing and enjoying the warm weather.
She loved spending time doing arts and crafts and painting. She also was a huge supporter of her grandkids' sporting events, traveling to football and baseball games and wrestling matches.
CHECKAN — A memorial service for Barbara J. Checkan, who died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, will be held in her honor at 3 p.m. Saturday at Boylan Funeral Home, 116 E. Main St., Evans City.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Barbara's honor to the A.J. Smith Memorial Fund, P.O.
