“JD” John David Boofer

“JD” John David Boofer, 69, of Clintonville, formerly of Parker, passed away Tuesday surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Butler on Oct. 29, 1948, and was the son of the late John E. and Mary Kathryn Claypoole Boofer.

JD was a graduate of Moniteau High School in 1967.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 until 1970. He was honorably discharged as an E-4. After his service in the Army, JD was the owner and operator of JD Auto Sales for over 31 years.

JD is survived by his companion, Mary Toth; two sons, Michael Boofer of Butler, and Brian Lieberum of Butler; five sisters, Mary Jane (Frank) Ealy of Bruin, Margaret (Bob) Martin of Valencia, Myrtle McClure of Parker, Mamie Utterback of Karns City, and Elizabeth Boofer of Butler; and four grandchildren, Meagan, Alexandria, Anthony Mansberger and Sophia McCloskey. He is also survived by a special nephew, TJ Ealy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Blystone; and his brother, Howard “Jake” Boofer.

BOOFER — Friends of “JD” John David Boofer, who died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Wayne St., Parker.Military honors will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. Saturday by the VFW/American Legion of Parker preceding the funeral.Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home.A private interment will follow at the Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia.To view or send condolences and to send flowers and sympathy cards, visit www.buzardfuneralhomes.com.
