SRU softball wins debuts
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Slippery Rock University’s softball team opened the season with a pair of wins for the first time since 2010, notching a pair of come-from-behind victories Friday.
The Rock defeated West Virginia State 4-3, rallying from a 2-0 deficit in the season opener. SRU fought back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat Saint Anselm, 5-4, later in the day.
Brooke Dawson and Cami Shumaker were the winning pitchers. Kailey Myers had four hits and two RBI on the day.
The Rock is scheduled to play Wilmington, then Felician College on Saturday in Myrtle Beach.
