Harry Walter “Walt” McElroy Sr.
Harry Walter “Walt” McElroy Sr., 77, of Ford City went to be with the Lord on Friday.
He was staying with his daughter, Lisa Waterson of Rural Valley, Armstrong County.
He was born May 19, 1940, to the late Samuel and Stella Smith McElroy in Armstrong County.
He was a truck driver for more than 40 years, and enjoyed stock car racing and wrestling and watching them on television. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Sligo.
He is survived by three sons, Randy of Ford City, Harry “Wally Jr.” and Samuel of Saint Petersburg, Pa.; six daughters, Laura McElroy of Knox, Patty and Paul Young of Millersville, Texas, Brenda and Randy Saunders of Ford City, Sandy and Billi Allen of Philadelphia, Lisa and Tim Watterson of Rural Valley, and Karen Billa of Cleveland; 23 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Clement of Texas, Bonnie Vaughn of Knox and Jayne Porter of Eighty-Four, Pa.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; two uncles, Clyde Young of Cowlesville, N.Y., and Omer Smith of Rimersburg; and one aunt, Marie Smith of Cowansville.
He is also survived by his ex-wife, Judy McElroy (Plunkard) of Saint Petersburg, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Nellie Mae; and his brother, Samuel; two brothers-in-law; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
MCELROY — Friends of Harry Walter “Walt” McElroy Sr., who died Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, will be received from noon until the time of service at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, corner of Main and East Slippery Rock streets, Downtown Chicora.Services will be officiated by Pastor Rob Hranicky of the Bethel Baptist Church in Sligo.Burial will be at the Hillview Cemetery, Kepples Corners, Chicora.In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to help with expenses be made to the Steighner Funeral Home, P.O.
