Dr. Richard Wallace Hemphill, M.D.

Dr. Richard Wallace Hemphill, M.D., of O'Hara Township passed away Wednesday at the age of 90 with his family at his side.

Born Sept. 28, 1927, in Apollo he was the son of the late Lynn and Helen (Sheplar) Hemphill.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Parris Hemphill; and a grandson, Kristopher Barkus.

Surviving relatives include his son, Dr. Vito Hemphill, D.C., of Santa Fe, N.M.; and his daughter, Pamela (Robert) Barkus, RN, of Butler.

Dick and Peggy were the proud grandparents of six grandchildren, Robert (Stephanie) Barkus of Cranberry Township, Alison (David) Roperti of York, Pa., Marah (Justin) McMillen of Los Angeles, Calif., Victoria Hemphill of Del Mar, Calif., Eden Hemphill of Mokelumne, Calif., and the late Kristopher “Kit” Barkus. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Anna, Nicholas, Hayden and Ensley and his cherished caregiver, Georgie Torretti and family.

HEMPHILL — A memorial service for Dr. Richard Wallace Hemphill, who died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, with his dear friend, the Rev.
