Students from two Butler County schools have entered a contest after making videos about local manufacturers.

The contest, titled “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” is being held by Catalyst Connection, a nonprofit organization based in Pittsburgh. There were 19 entries in the region.

Butler seventh and eighth-grade students Katie Ban, Vanessa Drohan, Ryan McLister, Ali Morrow, Lauren Mortimer and Lucas Slear produced a video highlighting Butler Technologies. They worked with Intermediate High School teacher Breit Cochran.

Located in Butler, BTI, makes printed electronic devices.

Students from Freeport Middle School also entered a video, which highlights Uncle Charley’s Sausage in Vandergrift, Westmoreland County.

Voting will open Monday and end Friday. The video with the most votes will be dubbed “Viewer’s Choice.”
