Retired Prospect chief's service recognized

PROSPECT — Police Chief Charles “Chuck” Tatton was recognized at Monday night's council meeting for more than 10 years of service.

Tatton retired Feb. 3.

Mayor James Butler said Tatton was a reliable resource for the community as a crime fighter and as a borough representative. He said the retired chief was visible in the community, especially at special events.

“(Tatton's) presence was lauded for making law enforcement officers approachable, especially for the children of our borough,” Butler said.

The mayor said the chief will be tough to replace.

“(Tatton) was responsible for investigating citizen complaints and reports of theft, and issuing code violation and traffic citations,” Butler said.

Tatton could not be reached for comment.

The mayor said officers Matt Wagner and Terry Hilton may interview for the position.
