The search is ongoing at this hour for an unknown man — considered armed and dangerous — who stole a sport utility vehicle in Butler.

Moments earlier, Butler police believe the same man tried to carjack two different people.

A be-on-the-lookout advisory was issued about 12:45 p.m. to all police departments for the white man, described as being in his 30s with a scruffy beard and reddish facial hair. He was reportedly wearing a beanie hat and a tan Carhartt-style jacket.

He is believed to have stolen a black, 2015 Ford Explorer with a roof rack and trailer hitch, from a doctor's office parking lot at Diamond and Washington streets.

The vehicle's license plate number is JWT-2508.

A subsequent BOLO noted that he possibly has a firearm.
