TAMPA, Fla. — He's not crazy about the site nor the teams that will be on the field.

But Tom Henschel loves the Super Bowl experience.

The 76-year-old Cabot resident — who spends his winters in Florida — left Thursday for Minneapolis and Super Bowl LII. He will become one of two people to attend all 52 Super Bowl games.

A would-be third, Larry Jacobson of San Francisco, died two months ago.

“Of course, I'll miss him,” Henschel said. “We've gotten to know each other well through the years. He was a good guy.”

Henschel and Don Crisman, 80, of Maine, will be seated together at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, as they have been for a number of past Super Bowl games. The NFL sells them their tickets.

Henschel's favorite Super Bowl city continues to be New Orleans. “Just a fun city with a lot of top-notch restaurants,” he said.

When he's not saving up for the Super Bowl, Henschel spends the non-winter months at home in Cabot, playing golf with his buddies two or three times a week.

He's been a football fan his entire life.

“I grew up on football,” Henschel said. “My father was a fanatic for the sport. We went to the high school game on Friday, the Pitt game on Saturday and watched the Steelers play at Forbes Field on Sunday.

“Those were my weekends as a young kid.”

As for Sunday's game, Henschel is predicting a 27-24 Philadelphia Eagles victory.

“No Steeler fan can possibly be rooting the other way,” he said, laughing.
