Shirley R. Merritt

Shirley R. Merritt, 83, of Zelienople passed away on Saturday while under the care of UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born Dec. 29, 1934, in Scottdale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harold M. King and the late Genevieve Lancaster King.

Shirley worked as a civil servant for many years. She was a wonderful piano player. She loved to read, but above all, she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 64 years, Robert K. Merritt; her children, Mark J. (Leah R.) Merritt of Cortland, Ohio, and Robin M. (David W.) Wuchina of Connoquenessing Boro; her grandchildren, Katie L. Gant, Bethany J. Hamann, Merritt L. Wuchina, Stephen D. Wuchina and Maya and Rayna Brooks; her great-grandchildren, Henley Gant, Arleigh Gant and Lucy Hamann; and her sister, Sandra (Ernest) Stanyon of Dayton, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Keith King.

MERRITT — A memorial service for Shirley R. Merritt, who died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 415 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.She will be laid to rest at Allegheny County Memorial Park.Memorial donations may be made in Shirley's honor to the Northland Public Library Foundation, 300 Cumberland Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.Arrangements have been entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
