Richard “Dick” J. Hillwig

Richard “Dick” J. Hillwig, 63, of Blawnox, originally from Hillville (Karns City), passed away on Friday surrounded by his family and friends at home after a long battle with cancer.

Dick was born in 1954. He was a member of St. Pio Parish and St. Edward Catholic Church, the Blawnox Auxiliary Police Department and the Blawnox Sportsman Club.

He loved to sing and play the guitar and enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years, Carol; two children, his daughter, Kimberly (Patrick) Goodman, and his son, Brian (Angie) Hillwig; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Abigail Goodman, and Lexi and Alyssa Hillwig; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving, are a brother, Thomas (Sharon) Hillwig; two sisters, Ruth (Dan) Smith and Betty (Bill) Hoover; and three sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Bonnie (Jordan) Hillwig; and a brother, Kevin Hillwig.

HILLWIG — Visitation for Richard “Dick” J. Hillwig, who died Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, 930 Center Ave., Blawnox, where family and friends will gather at 9:30 a.m. Thursday for a funeral Mass that will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pio Parish and St. Edward Church, 450 Walnut St., Blawnox.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to the Blawnox Auxiliary Police Department, 376 Freeport Road, Blawnox, PA 15238.Please visit www.thomasmsmithfh.com.
