Robert L. “Bob” Kennedy Sr.

Robert L. “Bob” Kennedy Sr., 86, of Butler passed away Sunday at Allegheny General Hospital.

He was born July 7, 1931, in Butler, and was the son of the late L. Lee Kennedy and the late Mildred Covert Kennedy.

Bob was a 1950 graduate of Butler High School.

After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Bob was an accounting clerk for Armco before retiring in 1992.

He was a member of Meridian Presbyterian Church and a longtime member of Calvary Evangelical United Presbyterian Church, the William H. Miller Lodge, Consistory in New Castle, Loraine Commandry of York Rite and a life member of Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club. Bob was a former member of Meridian VFD and former adviser to Meridian Rainbow Girls.

In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Bob loved spending time with his family and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Philips Kennedy, whom he married Aug. 18, 1956; one son, Robert L. (Amy) Kennedy Jr. of Butler; two daughters, Diane Kennedy (Tom) Keller of Hinckley, Ohio, and Debbie (Chip) Grigoletti of Butler; six grandchildren, Caroline Keller, Robert Keller, Matthew Grigoletti, Joshua Grigoletti, Lauren Kennedy and Paige Kennedy; and his two nieces and three nephews.

KENNEDY — Friends of Robert L. “Bob” Kennedy Sr., who died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson- Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.The William H. Miller Lodge 769 F&AM will hold Masonic services at 6 p.m. Friday at funeral home.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Stephen M. Franklin of Meridian Presbyterian Church officiating.Private burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Butler, PA 16001, or to the donor's favorite charity.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
