SRU grabs 88-82 win

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's men's basketball team outscored Edinboro 14-7 down the stretch Saturday to post an 88-82 victory at Morrow Field House.

Edinboro's last lead was 75-74 with 2:43 remaining.

Micah Till paced SRU (15-4, 9-4) with 26 points and 20 rebounds. He blocked four shots as well.

Brandon Simmons had 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks as well. Simmons has 50 blocked shots this season and is tied for the PSAC lead in that department. Bruce Spruell had 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

Merdic Green netted 12 points for The Rock. Keshawn Liggins paced Edinboro (11-6, 8-5) with 23 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.

Edinboro 74, SRU (women) 52 — The Rock (10-8, 8-5) had its three-game winning streak snapped by the 17th-ranked Fighting Scots.

Brooke Hinderliter led SRU with 18 points and 10 rebounds. She also had three assists. Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson had a season-high 10 points and six rebounds.

Ciarta Roston keyed Edinboro (15-2, 11-2) with 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocked shots. Michelle Jahn scored 20 points.

Both SRU teams return to action Wednesday, hosting Gannon.
