John E. “Itchy” Lacher, 78, of Southside, Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on Monday.

John was the youngest of nine siblings and had countless cousins, nieces and nephews.

He attended high school at St. Casimir, where he led his basketball team to a state championship victory in 1956.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked at J&L Steel Mill while putting himself through night school. He later became national sales manager for ServiStar Hardware.

Above all of his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family.

John was the beloved husband of the late Susan Kennedy Lacher; loving father of John P. (Laurie), Rachel, Matthew and Allison (Nathan Steele); and proud Pap of Luke.

He is survived by his loving partner, Maryellen Walter.
