Merle L. Campbell Sr.

Merle L. Campbell Sr., 99, of Chicora died Monday in the Kittanning Care Center.

He was born Dec. 4, 1918, in Concord Township, Hooker. He was the son of the late Ray and Desa Irene Cumberland Campbell.

He married Alene E. Iman Campbell in 1947. She died Jan. 6, 2017.

He was an equipment operator of backhoes and graders. He was also a truck driver.

He is survived by his son, Merle L. Campbell Jr., and his wife, Jody, of Butler; a daughter-in-law, Connie Campbell of Karns City; five grandchildren, Sarah and Frank Walowen of Chicora, Michele and Zac Boda of Butler, Eric and Maria Campbell of Butler, Robin and David Binkley of Plum Borough, Pittsburgh, John and Dyan Hesidence of Karns City; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; a brother, Ray Campbell Jr. of Karns City; a sister, Ruth Young of Sarver; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald J. Campbell, who died Nov. 25, 2017; and a great-grandson, Isaac Walowen.

CAMPBELL — Friends of Merle L. Campbell Sr., who died Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, corner of Main and East Slippery Rock Streets, Chicora, with the Rev.
