Janet C. Dize
Janet C. Dize, 95, passed away peacefully at Berks Heim on Saturday.
She was born Feb. 16, 1922, in Scotland. She was the daughter of the late William and Helen Craig.
Janet grew up in Bowhill, Cardenden Fife, Scotland. She graduated from high school and during World War II served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAFS).
While serving her country, Janet met Walter Dize Jr., who was serving in the 407th Bombardment Squadron stationed in Northern England.
Janet and Walter were married on Dec. 30, 1944, in Cardenden Fife, Scotland.
In 1946, Janet came to the United States as a war bride aboard the Queen Mary. On Feb. 10, 1950, she became a naturalized citizen.
Janet and Walter initially lived with his parents in Wexford until 1954, when they moved to the home they built together in Marshall Township.
Janet was an active member of Mars United Presbyterian Church.
For several years, she was employed by the Pine-Richland School District as a cafeteria worker. In February 2011, Janet moved to Keystone Villa, Fleetwood.
Janet is survived by her son, Spencer C. Dize, and his wife, Daphne Martens, of Wyomissing, Pa.; her grandchildren, Christopher J. Dize of West Chester, Pa., Natalie R. Madeira and her husband, Jeffrey, of Kunkletown, Pa., and Nicholas A. Dize of Tucson, Ariz.; her great-granddaughter, Eva L. Madeira; her sister-in-law, Jean Staley of Mars; and her nieces and nephews in Scotland, Pennsylvania and Florida.
Her husband preceded her in death.
