John August “Pap” Bunyan
John August “Pap” Bunyan, 64, of West Sunbury passed away Friday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
John was born Nov. 14, 1954, in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late Leroy R. Bunyan and the late Regina M. Moelter Bunyan Puff.
John was a member of the West Sunbury United Church of the Nazarene.
He had been employed at John F. Casey, Pullman Standard and Glenshaw Glass in the past, and most recently, was a truck driver.
John was a very active member of the West Sunbury community, having held numerous positions with West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department over the past 41 years including lieutenant, vice president, president and trustee and EMA coordinator for the borough. He also was a member of the borough council in West Sunbury and a former member of the American Legion Riders Post 117.
John is survived by his wife, Joni L. Bunyan, whom he married Feb. 5, 1977; two sons, Benjamin R. Bunyan and Daniel J. Bunyan and his wife, Stephanie, all of West Sunbury; two grandchildren, Olivia Farley and Christopher J. Bunyan; one sister, Sarah Parker, and her husband, Robert, of Renfrew; and one brother, Leroy J. Bunyan, and his wife, Charisse, of Renfrew.
BUNYAN — The family of John August “Pap” Bunyan, who died Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at the West Sunbury United Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Tim Britton, his pastor, officiating.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the William F.
