Michael J. Eperesi Sr.
Michael J. Eperesi Sr., 78, of Freedom, formerly of Monaca, passed away Tuesday afternoon just 11 days after the death of his beloved wife, Donna, at West Penn Hospital Hospice in Pittsburgh.
Born in Leisenring, Fayette County, Jan. 8, 1939, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Miller) Eperesi.
Michael was a brakeman, car inspector and foreman for the Aliquippa Southern Railroad at J & L Steel in Aliquippa. He then worked for N & T Railroad in Massillon, Ohio.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Michael belonged to the Monaca Center Lions Club and the Polish National Alliance Club of Monaca.
He was an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman. He loved sports and always attended his grandchildren's sporting events. A season-ticket holder since 1969, he loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and also enjoyed the Pirates.
Surviving are a son, Michael J. (Lisa) Eperesi Jr. of Mars; two daughters, Carrie (Nick) Jablunovsky of Valencia and Stacie (Matt) Morrow of Economy Borough; his grandchildren, Matthew, Mallory and Sarah Eperesi, Lauren and Alex Jablunovsky and Zachery and Kylee Morrow; two brothers, Edward (Paula) Eperesi of Greensburg and Thomas Eperesi of Leisenring; an uncle, William Eperesi of Cleveland; and an aunt, Ann Garcia of Long Island, N.Y.; and also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Riley Eperesi, who passed away Nov. 17, 2017; and by a brother, John Eperesi.
