BUTLER TWP — Township police are reminding residents to keep their vehicles locked after a series of recent break-ins.

On Wednesday night a car was ransacked on the 200-block of Alameda Road, said Lt. Matthew Pearson. Police also investigated a couple of break-ins on Dec. 24 on North McKean Street and Woodridge Road, in the northern part of the township.

In one of those incidents, a purse was taken, Pearson said.

Pearson said no charges have been filed and it is unknown if the incidents were connected.

Valuables being stolen from cars is a recurring issue in the area, he said.

“This is a never-ending thing,” Pearson said, “It happens more frequently than we would like.”

In the break-ins this week the vehicles were left unlocked and the owners had left valuable items inside that were loose and easy to make off with, he said.

Police advise residents to lock their vehicles and to call 911 if they see suspicious activity, such as an unknown person looking inside vehicles or an unfamiliar car driving up and down the street.
