Two arrested for Christmas Day strangulations

Two people are being held in the Butler County Prison after being charged in separate incidents with strangulation on Christmas Day.

Jose Olivio Jr., 34, no known address, and Jacob T. Barker, 29, of Butler, were held in the county facility on $10,000 each after both being charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor simple assault after separate incidents in Butler on Monday.

Butler City police filed the charges in both cases.

Olivio was charged after an incident in the 200 block of Kaufman Drive, Butler, at 2:41 a.m. Monday.

Barker was charged following an incident in he 500 block of West Brady Street, Butler, between 5:18 and 5:55 p.m. Monday.

The affidavit in that case states that police responded to a mother and son domestic incident, after the woman flagged down an officer who was a neighbor's home.

Both currently await preliminary hearings.
