Doling out some gifts for Xmas
Dear Santa,
Busy time of year, I realize, but if you can fill this list for me, it would be much appreciated.
Some of these are challenging, but if anyone can do this, big guy, you can.
To PITTSBURGH PIRATE FANS: Sale of the team to Mark Cuban.
To DAN CUNNINGHAM, avid Penn State fan: No Prevent Offense against Ohio State in the fourth quarter.
To MIKE KILROY and JOE GENCO, Eagle staff writers, and PITTSBURGH STEELER FANS: A Buffalo Bills win over New England.
To the PITTSBURGH PENGUINS: A third-line center. (Please put a rush on that order, Santa).
To the BUTLER HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PROGRAM: Stability, stability, stability.
To BUTLER COUNTY BASKETBALL FANS: The wisdom to get to a game and check out Mars senior Robby Carmody and/or Butler sophomore Ethan Morton.
You will make a return trip.
To DEREK PYDA, Eagle staff writer: The opportunity to enjoy a Steelers’ Super Bowl win when son Will is old enough to relish that moment with him.
To DARLENE, my wife: A few more dinners together.
To MARCUS MARTIN, Slippery Rock University defensive end: A new room in his home to house all of his postseason awards.
To BRANDON FUSCO, San Francisco 49ers guard: Some fellow SRU alumni joining him in the NFL. Martin, offensive lineman Ian Park and receiver Marcus Johnson could fill that bill.
To the NFL: Official review of the decision years ago to use instant replay to determine rulings of plays on the field. Surely, that call would be overturned.
Then again, you never know.
To JAKE KRADEL, Butler senior and future Pitt football player: That ACC championship he’s setting his sights on.
To the CLEVELAND BROWNS: A quarterback. (Stop kidding around on this one, Santa, enough is enough).
To the MONITEAU GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM: One more basket.
To the MONITEAU GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM: One less upset.
To the CARDINAL WUERL NORTH CATHOLIC BOYS SOCCER TEAM: One more win.
To the SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL TEAM: One more down at Kutztown.
To LOUIS NEWELL, Seneca Valley wrestler: One more win at the state tournament.
To ATHLETES EVERYWHERE: The courage, competitiveness, heart and tenacity of Mars wrestler Max Lamm.
To the KNOCH and FREEPORT VOLLEYBALL TEAMS: A forever memory. (Oops, see you already delivered there, Santa).
To the SPORTS WORLD: True appreciation of the games we play and watch and the realization they are, indeed, games.
Merry Christmas!
