Adam Swidzinski

Adam Swidzinski, 98, of Butler passed away on Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born Oct. 27, 1919, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of the late Nicholas Swidzinski and the late Paulina (Schmidt) Swidzinski.

Adam was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served in World War II with his six brothers.

He was a cement truck driver for Shuffin-Greens and later was a self-employed cement mason from 1955 until 1964. Adam retired in 1982 from the carpenter's shop at Pullman Standard.

He attended Christ Community United Methodist Church and was a member of Tanglewood Center.

He is survived by his one daughter, Mary Elaine Westfall of Bozeman, Mont.; three sons, James R. Swidzinski and his wife, Barbara, of Butler, Daniel M. Swidzinski and his wife, Cyndi, of West Sunbury, and Robert A. Swidzinski of Elkhart, Ind.; his son-in-law, Walt Cooper of Butler; eight grandchildren, Amy (Eric) Huff of Mars, Amber (Will) Tonn of Bozeman, Mont., Stacy (Mike) Ellis of Butler, Holly (Nate) Swidzinski of Wexford, Allison Westfall of Portland, Ore., Adam (Katy) Cooper of Basalt, Colo., Jared Swidzinski of New Orleans, La., and Abbie (Derek) Flinner of Slippery Rock; nine great-grandchildren, Ben, Amanda, Stephen, Alayna, Jacquline, Cortney, Natalie, Piper and Eden; three brothers, Louis Swidzinski, John Swidzinski and his wife, Patty, and Carl Swidzinski and his wife, Nancy, all of Butler; two sisters, Lucille Spohn of Maryland, and Helen Dollman of Slippery Rock; his companion, Frances “Fran” Brown; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Ardith “Betty” Rosaline Swidzinski, whom he married on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1942, and who passed away on March 26, 1987; his loving daughter, Jean Louise Cooper; one sister, Eugenia “Jenny” Schultz; and five brothers, Stanley Swidzinski, Joseph Swidzinski, Frank Swidzinski, Albert Swidzinski; and an infant brother, Theodore Swidzinski.

SWIDZINSKI — Friends of Adam Swidzinski, who died Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce Gascoine of Christ Community United Methodist Church, officiating.Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.Officers and members of the American Legion Post 117 of Butler, American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora, and the VFW Post 249 of Butler will conduct military honors at the graveside.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
