Stanley C. Ellspermann

Stanley C. Ellspermann

Stanley C. “Stan” Ellspermann, 75, of Sewickley, Pa., passed away peacefully Saturday.

Born Nov. 7, 1942, in Evansville, Ind., to Charlie and Alma Ellspermann, he lived the last 15 years of his life in Pittsburgh but spent quality time in his earlier years in Evansville, Detroit, Miami, Richmond and Bethlehem.

Stan was a very passionate man who, in retirement, enjoyed spending time with his loving family, watching his favorite TV shows, sitting in the sun and even a little bit of golf.

He was a dedicated executive in the field of human resources, labor relations and administration and his successful career spanned more than four decades.

Stan managed people with purpose and pride, contributing to the success of many companies including Ford Motor Co., National Steel, National Intergroup, James River Paper Co. and Mack Truck.

He led by example, always offering his colleagues a ton of “one-liners” along the way. He worked hard and was nice to people. Throughout the span of his 40-year career, he spent as much time with the custodian as he did with the CEO. He made no distinction, only saying that you should treat everyone the same.

Stan and his five brothers, Randy, John, Gerry, Rick and Ken spent quality time together, regardless of how far apart they lived, especially at their annual golf event known as the “E Cup.”

He cherished his wife Helen Jane of 53 years. Not a day went by without him reminding whoever he was with how much he loved and appreciated his wife. He adored his children and grandchildren and never allowed an opportunity to pass without embracing them and telling them how much he loved them. However far away their education, travel or career took them, he always reminded them to “save me a hug.”

Stan was an extremely loving, loyal and proud family man. His family includes his loving wife, Helen J. Ellspermann; his three daughters, the late Julie M. Alvarez, Lori A. (Pete) Schoonmaker and Michelle L. (Erik) Lund.

He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Derrick, Luke, Emma, Eliza, Benjamin and Lilly; his five younger brothers; and his many loving sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many lifelong friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to kind staff at the Allegheny Health Network Wexford Pavilion and West Penn Hospital, for the excellent care they gave to Stan.
