CLAY TWP — Investigators have “persons of interest” but no arrests have been made in connection with a violent home invasion earlier this month on Euclid Road.

“It's an active investigation,” state police Cpl. Tim Morando said Wednesday, “and we're interviewing several individuals.”

Police have been working the case since Dec. 2 when they say two armed men stormed their way into the home and beat and pistol-whipped the resident, a 74-year-old man.

The robbers — one with a gun and the other with a knife — forced the victim to open a safe that contained guns and other personal items, before they fled.

The attack about 6 a.m. left the elderly resident incapacitated for about 12 hours. Family members eventually found him and notified authorities.

The man was subsequently flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of injuries, investigators said, that included at least one dislocated shoulder. He also needed stitches for cuts to his face.

His current condition was not immediately available.

Police described the two attackers as being white and likely in their 20s.

“But we believe more than two people were involved,” Morando said.
