Butler Redevelopment Authority recesses meeting on hotel sale closing to Friday

The new Marriott Springhill Suites in Butler.

The Butler Development Authority recessed its meeting Monday, which was a continuation of last week’s meeting, to Friday to consider approving the sale of the unfinished Marriott Springhill Suites in the Centre City project downtown.

The authority recessed its regular meeting Dec. 14 to Monday to vote the sale of the hotel from J.S. Capitol, the owner and developer, to a buyer who has not been publicly identified.

But Monday’s meeting was recessed to 2 p.m. Friday following an executive session.

Solicitor Thomas Breth said the legal issues regarding terms of the sale’s closing that caused the most-recent delay will hopefully be resolved Thursday afternoon, so the authority can act on the sale Friday and the sale will close by the end of the year.

A full story will appear in Tuesday's Butler Eagle.
