David R. “Dave” Black
David R. “Dave” Black, 88, of Zelienople died Thursday.
Born July 3, 1929, in Downieville, Valencia, he was the youngest of three sons to the late Dr. Dwight L. and Ruby (Downie) Black.
Dave served in the U.S. Army Mash Unit, Fort Benning, Ga., until 1953.
He returned to the area after his service and enjoyed a career with MSA in Callery for more than 40 years as a lab technician.
He was a member of Grace Church of Harmony.
In his younger days, Dave and his beloved wife, Janice, were avid roller skaters.
After his retirement, Dave loved to play golf and enjoyed fishing and boating at Moraine State Park.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janice (McClain) Black; and three daughters, Cathy (John) Beighey, Amy Daning and Beth Black, all of Zelienople.
In addition to his wife, Janice, and his daughters, Dave leaves behind his cherished three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
