Roberta “Birdie” Jane Sacco

Roberta “Birdie” Jane Sacco, 95, of Butler passed away Monday under the care of VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born Dec. 20, 1921, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. Hockenberry and Arvilla (Shaffer) Hockenberry.

Birdie was a 1939 graduate of Butler High School. She was the proprietor of the Crossbow Lounge. She served on the board of directors of Lyn-Mar, Inc., as secretary.

She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, sewing, watercolor painting, cooking and watching professional golf. Birdie was a wonderful seamstress and cook.

She will be dearly missed and so will her great Sunday dinners.

She is survived by her four sons, Edward C. (Debbie) Sacco of Butler, James P. (Jean) Sacco of Coatsville, Pa., C. Daniel (Sue) Sacco of Tarpon Cove, Fla., and Darrell R. (Carol) Sacco of Butler; 11 grandchildren, Nicole Caperell, Brent Sacco, Sean Sacco, Liane Spears, Corinne News, Eric Sacco, Natalie Sacco-Thomas, Dachele Boehm, Nicole Boehm, Alicia Sacco and Sonia Sacco; 14 great-grandchildren, Travis, Crystal, Amanda, Caroline, Madalyn, Lucy, Keaton, Finnley, Easton, Jack, Sydney, Milo, Ellis, and Liam; and two great-great-grandchildren, Carlos and Luke.

In addition to her parents, Birdie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Sacco, who passed away Dec. 12, 1989; and two sisters, Vivian French and Helen Geibel.

SACCO — There will be no public visitation for Roberta “Birdie” Jane Sacco, who died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017. A memorial service will held later at the discretion of the family.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.Memorial donations may be made in Birdie's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Smile Train, P.O.
