H.J. “Joe” Reddick Jr.
H.J. “Joe” Reddick Jr., 85, of Jackson Center passed away Saturday at home of natural causes.
Born Jan. 9, 1932, in Slippery Rock, he was a son of Henry Joel and Grace Martin Reddick Sr.
He attended Slippery Rock area schools.
Joe was involved in the trucking industry all of his life. In early years, he drove for Tasa Coal Co., Bill Larimer Trucking in Greenville and in 1960 became an owner and operator and drove for Tajon in Mercer until 1982, then for Dart Trucking in Canfield, Ohio, and then from 1991 to 1994 worked for his son, Joe Reddick III, at BLR Trucking by hauling lumber.
He loved trucking and being around trucks and operating heavy equipment. He loved watching the modern farm machinery work in the fields. Joe was known by many and respected as a hard worker. For many years he hauled and sold firewood in the area.
Joe loved the old style country music and loved going to the many square dances in the area.
He married the former Dorothy M. Snyder, and she preceded him in death Oct. 31, 2011.
He is survived by his children, Betsy G. (Robert) Bert of Fredonia, H.J. “Joe” (Bernice) Reddick III of Jackson Center, and Jeffrey D. (Georgetta) Reddick, Kenneth A. (Peg) Reddick and Keith A. (Lesa) Reddick, all of Stoneboro; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kate McCandless of Slippery Rock.
In addition to his parents and wife, his companion of 24 years, Thelma A. Huff, and his grandson, H. J. “Joey” Reddick IV, preceded him in death.
REDDICK — Calling hours for H.J. “Joe” Reddick Jr., who died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro. A funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Janet R. Pratt, pastor of the Methodists United In Faith, officiating. Entombment will take place at the Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
