Harry D. “Dean” Campbell
Harry D. “Dean” Campbell, 90, formerly of New Sewickley Township, passed away Sunday while under the care of Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople.
Born Jan. 8, 1927, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late LaVerne P. Campbell and Mabelle (Cooper) Campbell.
Dean was a member of Oak Grove Lutheran Church in New Sewickley Township and was a member of Friends in Christ. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Dean worked for 33 years at J&L Steel as a millwright, and after retiring, he owned and operated Campbell Gemstone Jewelry. He was president of the Beaver County Mineral Society, a former associate at Kmart in Cranberry Township, and a leader of the Boy Scouts. Dean also belonged to the Appalachian Rock Society, the National American Legion, and the Big Knob Grange. He also greatly enjoyed bingo and fishing. Dean will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Dean leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Brenda Hunter of Seven Fields; his son, John Campbell and his wife, Diane, of Zelienople, and two granddaughters, Michelle Elizabeth Campbell and Melissa Lee Campbell.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Frances D. Campbell, a daughter, Vicki Lynn Campbell, and a son-in-law, David Hunter.
CAMPBELL — The family of Harry D. “Dean” Campbell, who died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, will welcome friends on Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 2-4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. Nathaniel Christman officiating.Dean will be laid to rest at Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Township.In lieu of flowers, the Campbell family kindly suggests that memorial contributions be made in Dean's honor in support of the Oak Grove Lutheran Church, 434 Harkins Mill Road, Zelienople, PA 16063 or to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Campbell family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
