Thomas A. Cleary

Thomas A. Cleary, 68, of Renfrew, devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at his home after a brief illness, Thursday.

Born Aug. 31, 1949, in Butler, he was a son of the late William and Margaret Rishel Cleary.

He graduated high school and then obtained an Associates Degree in Metallurgy from Point Park University. He had worked for Vitro Glass for 40 years as a process engineer.

Thomas was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church and was a lector at St. Fidelis. He was an avid reader, had enjoyed bird watching and was a former Scout Master for the Boy Scouts.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are his wife, Christine (Thomson) Cleary; his five children, Benjamin (Angie) Cleary, Rachel (Brian Franz) Cleary, Nathaniel Cleary, Samuel Cleary and Daniel Cleary; his siblings, Margaret (Rick), Joe (Carol), Jane, Patrick (Katie), Kevin, Francis, Germaine (Charles), Leo and Anastasia; his sister-in-law, Debra (Brian); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine.

CLEARY — Friends of Thomas A. Cleary, who died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home for a prayer service.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian.
