Joseph G. “Jerry” Studeny

Joseph G. “Jerry” Studeny, 82, of Renfrew passed away Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a long, courageous battle.

Born Dec. 19, 1934, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Josef L. and Caroline (Rumpler) Studeny.

Jerry was a 1952 graduate of Perry High School and served in the Pennsylvania National Guard. He was a retired carpenter and he was a life member of Carpenters Union Local 420.

He was an active member of St. Fidelis Parish (St. Conrad), serving as a church cantor and participating in the church choir. Jerry was also a member of Meridian Community Choir. He was an active member of St. Fidelis Men's Club and served as the chairman of the pancake breakfast for over 20 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and was a Past Faithful Navigator.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Katherine Locher Studeny, whom he married Feb. 9, 1957, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wexford; his sons, Paul G. Studeny and his wife, Cathleen, and Joseph E. Studeny, all of Renfrew; two grandchildren, Katherine E. Studeny of Renfrew, and Joseph B. Studeny of Coraopolis; his sisters, Arlene Shearer and her husband, Edward of Glenshaw, and Marion Ruhl of Perrysville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, James Studeny; and his daughter-in-law, Christine E. Studeny, who passed away Aug. 18, 2017.

STUDENY — Friends of Joseph G. “Jerry” Studeny, who died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Boylan Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Renfrew, with the Rev. William Wuenschel, officiating.Jerry will be laid to rest at Butler County Memorial Park.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
