Alice Marie Texter

Alice Marie Texter, 87, of Belton, Mo., passed away Thursday at Redwood of Raymore, Mo.

Alice was born June 23, 1930, in Butler. She was the daughter of Clyde Joseph Ervin and Helen Brown Ervin.

On March 12, 1948, Alice was united in marriage with Donald S. Texter. Together, Alice and Donald were blessed with four children, Donald Jr., George, Debbie and Barbara.

Alice worked as a florist for “Barb's Florist,” and after becoming a mother, she lovingly supported her family as a homemaker. Alice later went on to work for Sears until her retirement.

During their time in Pennsylvania, Alice and Donald Sr. were called to be missionaries in Anchorage, Alaska, where they attended the Church of God. For 58 years, Alice and Donald distributed clothing and food to the poor across the U.S. and also to the island nation of Samoa after the 1991 tropical cyclone disaster.

After making her home in Missouri, Alice attended the Prairie Center Church of God in Olathe, Kan.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald S. Texter Sr. in November of 2007; her parents, Clyde and Helen Ervin; and one sister, Norma Jean McCorrey.

Alice is survived by her children, Donald S. Texter Jr. and his wife, Marie, George Joseph Texter, Debbie E. (John) Germain and Barbara (Michael) Grant; her adopted son, Manual (Luz) Llaneza; 12 grandchildren, Kelly, Donald III, Becky, Laurie, Joey, Angela, Michelle, Melissa, Joshua, Arthur, Julie and Jacob; and 24 great-grandchildren.

TEXTER — Evening funeral services for Alice Marie Texter, who died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, will begin at 7 p.m. with visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore, Mo.Memorial contributions may be given to Asana Hospice, 9001 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO 64114.
