PORTERSVILLE — Portersville Christian School's fine arts committee will present its English production of Sophocles'“Antigone”tonight through Saturday night at the school, 343 E. Portersville Road (Route 488 East), Portersville.

The Greek tragedy, the third chronologically of Sophocles' Theban plays, will be presented at 7 o'clock tonight, Friday and Saturday.

The cast includesAlexis Konar, a junior from Butler, playing the title role of Antigone; Amy Miller of Cranberry Township as Ismene, Eli Stroh of Zelienople as the blind seer Teiresias.

Antigone's themes include individual responsibility in response to tyranny. The play probes the consequences of the actions a person takes when faced with immoral demands of a government, in this case the ruler of Thebes.

Tickets will be available at the door.

Antigone is a Greek tragedy. Younger children will have difficulty understanding the serious nature of the theme, and the way in which it is portrayed.
