Alice Elizabeth Emery

Alice Elizabeth Emery, 80, of Emery Lane, Petrolia, passed away Saturday evening at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born Dec. 3, 1936, in Callensburg, Clarion County, Alice was the daughter of the late Esther A. Whitmore King and Wallace J. King and was raised by her grandparents, the late Samuel and Nanny Whitmore.

She was a graduate of St. Petersburg-Richland Township High School. Alice was a member of the Faith Community United Methodist Church in Bruin and enjoyed listening to music by the Gaither Brothers.

In her free time, Alice liked to watch television, especially game shows. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and she was known for making the “world's best veggie soup.”

Family was extremely important to Alice, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who knew Alice will always remember her for being a strong fighter who survived cancer and for having a kind and giving heart. Alice was a longtime resident of the Petrolia area.

She was married in Callensburg on July 22, 1954, to Wallace L. “Bud” Emery. Bud preceded her in death Dec. 20, 2005.

Alice is survived by her children, Wallace “Wally” Emery and his wife, Peg, and Debbie Easley and her husband, Jim, all of Bruin; her grandchildren, Gary Hillwig and his wife, Tiffiny, of Six Points, Ryan Easley, Eric Easley, Tara Emery, Steve Emery and his wife, Dana, all of Bruin, and Ray Emery and his wife, Brittany, of Chicora; her great-grandchildren, Chelsey Hillwig, Kaylene Hillwig, Zane Everetts and Zoe Everetts, Malyia Emery and Greyson Emery; a stepbrother, Wallace J. King Jr. and his wife, Wanda, of Sulligent; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and her caregivers, whom Alice adored, Sue McCue, Marcia Terwilliger, Donna Pyle, Michelle Pyle and Barb Smith.

EMERY — Friends of Alice Elizabeth Emery, who died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City.A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Floyd Barnhart, pastor of the Faith Community United Methodist Church, officiating.
