Kenneth J. Snyder
Kenneth J. Snyder, 64, of Clay Township went to be with the Lord on Friday after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 9, 1953, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Kenneth D. and Cellesta Snyder.
Ken graduated from Moniteau High School and went on to work at Cooper Bessemer in Grove City. Later he joined Local 66 Operating Engineers and often worked alongside his father running heavy equipment. Before retiring, he worked for Earl Duncan Excavating and enjoyed the friendship of the men who worked there.
Ken belonged to the Boyers Sportsman’s Association. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed doing a vegetable garden along with the help of his granddaughter, Vesta, at his side. Ken loved music, especially the Beatles and country music. He attended God’s Country Church affiliated with the First United Methodist Church of Butler.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 44 years, Patricia Janet Snyder, whom he married Aug. 18, 1973; two sons, Christopher J. (Amber) Snyder of Powder Springs, Ga., and Matthew K. Snyder of Boyers; one stepson, Vernon C. (Nahtanha) Brown of Venus, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Patricia E. (Darryl) Cole of West Sunbury; nine grandchildren, Kayla E. (Joe) Stiner, Rebekah and Rachael Brown, Trinity, Sage and Vesta Snyder, Anissa, Ella and Avery Snyder; one sister, Diane (Dale) Cupec; one brother, Brian (Beth) Snyder; two nieces; and four nephews.
SNYDER — Upon the request of Kenneth J. Snyder, who died Friday Sept. 29, 2017, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be conducted later in October, officiated by Pastor Tim Goodman.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice of Concordia.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the William F. Young Funeral Home in West Sunbury.
