BRADY TWP — One seat is up for grabs on the board of supervisors and Republican incumbent Kenneth Hertzog will battle businessman and Democrat Donald Staiger for it.

Hertzog said making sure residents have no issues is the main job.

“That's the purpose of the supervisors, to make sure the township residents are happy,” Hertzog said.

While he has no agenda in his run for another term as supervisor, Hertzog does hope to continue the effort to build a new township building and maintenance facility on West Liberty Road.

“We're waiting on the (state Department of Environmental Protection) permit to start excavation,” Hertzog said.

Staiger, who owns an auto body repair shop in the township, said supervisors must address the poor condition of the roads.

“They used to be good, but in the last four, five, six years there hasn't been a whole lot done to the roads,” he said.

Staiger, a lifelong township resident, worked for the township maintenance crew at various times over the years.

He hopes to help the township where he was born.

“I thought if I ran, I could do some good if I got in there,” Staiger said.
