Wisconsin man sentenced to county prison
A Wisconsin man charged with driving under the influence and then later escaping was sentenced to county jail in Butler County Court on Thursday.
Jamal A. Idow, 21, of Milwaukee, was sentenced to 120 days to six months in Butler County Prison, with credit for time served, as well as 12 months probation following parole, pay court costs and fines and attend any recommended counseling.
He was also ordered to undergo the Alcohol Highway Safety School, attend a victim impact panel, participate in the county litter pickup program and complete 150 hours of community service.
Idow previously pleaded guilty to misdemeanor escape, DUI and summary driving under suspicion on Oct. 20.
He was initially charged with DUI and related traffic violations after an incident on June 30, when Slippery Rock police said Idow was pulled over on South Main Street, after his vehicle was seen crossing the center line.
He was found to be intoxicated, police said.
The escape charges stem from an incident following Idow's arraignment, when officers attempting to take Idow to the Butler County Prison say he broke free and ran off with his hands still handcuffed behind his back.
Idow ran around the Diamond Street area in Butler and was later found hiding underneath a parked vehicle, the document states.
His attorney, Public Defender Charles Nedz, requested that probation and parole be transferred to Wisconsin, which was granted.
