SAXONBURG — South Butler School District solicitor Tom Breth confirmed Thursday that a professional employee has been placed on administrative leave without pay following an investigation into the inappropriate use of paid leave.

Breth declined Thursday to identify the employee, the building where he or she works or the position in the district, but said that the matter will come before members of the school board at their next public meeting on Nov. 1.

Breth said he anticipates board members will receive an update on the status of the district's misconduct investigation and administrative action in executive session. But it remains unclear whether the board will take any formal action at the Nov. 1 meeting.

“Whether the board is asked to take any action regarding the status of the employee's position with the district will have to be determined in executive session,” Breth said.

The district's administration office released a statement on Tuesday declining comment on “any pending personnel matter.”

The Pennsylvania State Education Association representative for the district's teachers, Brooke Witt, also declined earlier this week to comment on the matter.
