Edna M. Hicks

Edna M. Hicks, 74, of Chicora passed away Monday at Chicora Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 1, 1942, in Queenstown, Armstrong County, the daughter of William and Dorothy (Aikens) Furl.

Family was paramount in Edna's life, and she especially cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved drawing pictures and watching soap operas and had a special place in her heart for her cats.

She will be deeply missed by her son, Jim Hicks of Chicora; her daughter, Donna Wood and her husband, Kevin, of Chicora; her grandchildren, Breann Wood, Amanda Hicks, John Hicks, Kerissa Hicks, Curtis Hicks and David Hicks; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Hannah, Samuel, Janessa, Brody and Madelynn; her brothers, William “Billy” Furl and his wife, Missy, of Karns City, and Ron Furl of Worthington; and her sisters, Barb Seybert and her husband, Don, of Karns City, Kathy Brothers of Rimersburg, Mary Bash and her husband, Leland, of Apollo, and Linda Brison and her husband, Dave, of New Bethlehem.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, David Wesley Hicks, whom she married April 1, 1963, and who died Sept. 7, 2014; her sons, Larry “Bud” Hicks, John Hicks and Bobby Hicks; grandson, Wesley Hicks; brothers, Dave and Paul Furl; sisters, Martha Furl, Ruth Bowser and Eleanor Furl; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Hillard.

HICKS — Services for Edna M. Hicks, who died Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, will be private, per her wishes.
