Joanne M. “Jo” Walker Jamison
Joanne M. “Jo” Walker Jamison, 84, of Renfrew passed away Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born April 13, 1933, in Connoquenessing to the late Floyd Walker and the late Laverne Hilliard Walker.
Mrs. Jamison was a graduate of Butler Area High School. She went on to Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and received a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Slippery Rock University. Joanne worked as a registered nurse in Albuquerque, N.M., Moses Lake, Wash., and later at Butler Memorial Hospital for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Slippery Rock University Alumni and also of White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and on many committees. Jo enjoyed reading, crafts and most of all making scrapbooks for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Jamison Sr., whom she married June 24, 1954; five sons, Robert G. Jamison, Jr. and his wife, Katie, of Evans City, Thomas D. Jamison and his wife, Maggie, of Lebanon, Pa., R. Bryan Jamison and his wife, Michelle, of Ross Township, Pa., Scott R. Jamison and his wife, Carol, of Evans City and Michael J. Jamison and his wife, Amber, of Prospect; two daughters, Linda D. Carpenter and her husband, Randy, of Fairborn, Ohio, and Carol L. Dreyer and her husband, the Rev. W. Lee, of Butler; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Jean Neely.
JAMISON — Friends of Joanne M. “Jo” Walker Jamison, who died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew, with her son-in-law, the Rev. W. Lee Dreyer, officiating. Burial will take place at the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund, 102 Shannon Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.
