John G. Allen

John G. Allen, 70, of Butler passed away Friday at VA Butler Healthcare.

He was born Aug. 20, 1947, in Deanville, Pa., the son of the late Richard Allen and LaRue Griffin Allen.

He was a member of North Main Street Church of God and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Vietnam. John worked as an operating engineer for Local 66. He was also a member of VFW Post 249 and Masonic Victory Lodge 694. He enjoyed hunting, Mustang cars, going to car shows and racing his car.

Surviving are his son, Mark Allen of Butler; his daughter, Mary Ann (Mario) Dias of Gibsonia; three grandchildren, Joseph Allen and Lainey and Elias Dias; his sister, Diana (William) Sloan; and his brother, Terry (Mary) Allen, both of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda J. Cockroft Allen, who died in 2009; his parents; and his sister, Linda Campbell.

ALLEN — Friends of John G. Allen, who died Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.
