Volunteers clean up Main Street
Nearly 30 Butler residents braved chilly weather to come together Saturday morning to help beautify Main Street during the Great Fall Cleanup event.
Those volunteers removed trash and debris from the sidewalks and street, as well as weeded the already established greenery and planted mums along the sidewalk.
The event was run by the city's Shade Tree Commission in conjunction with Butler Downtown, as well as volunteers from the Penn Theater Performance Company, the Butler Library and Homeless Cats Butler.
Julie Dandoy, chair of the Shade Tree Commission said the group has held the Big Spring Cleanup event for the past 12 years, and three years ago added the fall event to balance out the seasons.
“We would like to do it four times a year,” she said.
A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
