Butler man pleads after attempted window escape
A Butler man pleaded guilty Monday to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct stemming from an incident earlier this month at an apartment on North Main Street.
Butler police said Tyler B. Kern, 24, of Butler, suffered an apparent overdose around 10:35 p.m. Sept. 9. Medical crews administered the opioid antidote Narcan to revive him, according to court documents. But moments after police learned he was wanted on a warrant, he tried to jump out of a bedroom window.
An officer stopped Kern with the aid of city firefighters. The defendant, who damaged a window screen in the incident, was arrested and placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrant.
In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors withdrew charges of resisting arrest and criminal mischief. Kern was ordered to pay $312 in restitution, fines and court costs.
A full report will appear in the Butler Eagle.
