Lena F. Corso Alworth
Lena F. Corso Alworth, 97, of Parker passed away Tuesday afternoon at Parker Personal Care Home, where she had lived for a period of time.
Born Sept. 8, 1919, in Parker, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marietta Sansone Corso.
A graduate of the former Parker High School, she was a lifelong and devoted member of the former St. Mary's Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church and Altar Rosary Society also at Parker.
Lena worked at the former Knox Glass (Wightman Bottling) Corp., Corso's 5 and 10 cent store and Corso's Market, all in Parker. Most of her working life, however, was cooking and waitressing at the family Sunrise Coffee Shop on River Avenue in Parker.
As long her health permitted, Lena was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a friend to all.
Surviving are one son and his wife, Dennis L. “Butch” and “Bert” Alworth of Parker; six grandchildren, Nathan (Jennifer) Alworth of Virginia, Joe Brison of Emlenton, Missy (Greg) Michael of West Virginia, Danny (Jennifer) Brison of Butler, Tim (Jessica) Brison of Parker and Amanda (Jeremy) Simon of West Virginia; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her loving husband, William J. “Bill” Alworth, who she married Oct. 7, 1944, and who died Oct. 25, 2016; her daughter, Linda Alworth Brison; her sister, Anna; and three brothers, Santo, John and Lewis (Louis) Corso.
ALWORTH — Friends of Lena F. Corso Alworth, who died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Wayne Ave., Parker.
